Ideas: Cheap Gift Ideas

#1 Trophy
For my boyfriend for Christmas one year, I had a trophy made for him. It said “#1 Boyfriend” on the bottom plague, and it was designed with things that remind me of him, and him of me. This idea is cheap and you can do it at any trophy shop. Trust me it will be a Christmas he will never forget! I know my boyfriend loved it!

3 U's
OK, for an original and meaningful present that is easy to do, try this. You’ll need to get three sticker letter “U’s” for the present. First, buy a heart shaped box, and put a “U" letter sticker on it. Attach a note that says, "This is for my heart, that ‘U’ are always in." Second, get a light bulb, or something that you feel signifies "mind," and place a "U" letter sticker on the top. Attach a note that says, "This is for my mind, which ‘U’ are always on." For the third gift, get a toy truck or a toy trailer. Place your last "U" sticker letter on the front, and add a smiley face on the back. Attach a note that says "And this is for my happiness, which ‘U’ always bring."

A Coloring Book For Your Love
For an anniversary present, I made my boyfriend a coloring and activity book. I made up a story and drew all the pictures (plain computer paper is fine) and outlined them with pen. I bound it all together with a cover and gave him some crayons to go with it. He loves it so much he refuses to color in it for fear of messing it up.

A Dozen Roses
One day, my boyfriend was feeling a little blue. I decided to remind him how much he meant to me. I Googled the meanings of rose colors and decided on twelve. Using Word and pictures I found on Google, I composed a book of the twelve rose colors and wrote a little blurp about the meaning of the color and how it related to us, i.e. the purple rose signified imagination and how he had captured my imagination. Orange, signifying desire, was my burning desire for him. And so on and so forth.

I left it on his pillow for him to find, He liked it so much that he came out and kissed me on the cheek in front of his mother, brother, and friends! Then he whispered in my ear how much he appreciated. Since he isn't one to show any kind of affection in public, it was very special.

This idea could be adjusted to any sort of flower, or even objects! Roses are just very special to my boyfriend and I.

A Fairy Tale Story
My boyfriend and I are always telling each other stories, just to pass the time. This year for Christmas I decided to write out the story of how we met in a fairy-tale format, complete with cute pictures of the Kim Anderson children to illustrate it. All my girlfriends loved the idea, and hopefully he likes it as much, too!

A Future of Endless Possibilities
It's my 6-month anniversary with my boyfriend and I wanted to do something special for him, but I was low on cash. So, I did a couple things for him: I got a heart shaped bottle, a cylindrical plastic container, some felt, a cute little wooden box (the ones you can find for like $1), some stickers, and a bunch of those flat marbles. I printed out about 70 traits that I loved about him and put one on each marble, then put a little sticker heart on the back of each marble, and then put all the marbles in the bottle. I then printed out (on nice paper) "I love you" in 26 languages (one for each week we've been together) and then decorated the paper with 26 little sticker hearts. Now, for the box I had another idea. He's the first guy that I've ever really felt like I've been in love with and wanted to spend a long time together with, so I wanted to make something that would signify our future together. So, I found a box with a little glass window on the lid and I pasted a picture of us and a little note saying "In a future of endless possibilities, the only thing I'm sure of is that I want to spend it with you." to the lid and I lined the entire inside of the box with red felt. I then wrote on a bunch of the flat marbles (I got bigger ones for this) things that I wanted to do with him in the future, like 'tour a castle together' or something like that. He said that he appreciates effort more than cost, so I'm really, really hoping that he's going to like these gifts.

A Handpainted, Practical And Much Used Gift
My boyfriend and I had only been dating for a few months before his birthday came around. Mind you, I’m a total sap; he's not! I was on a low budget and wanted to be creative. So about 2 weeks before his birthday, I went to a pottery place where you basically pick and paint a piece of pottery. Since we enjoy our early morning coffee together, I picked coffee mugs. I painted them to match. The morning of his birthday, I had them filled to the brim with latte's and put our favorite peach Danishes from the local bakery on the side. He loved it! And no matter what, that's the only mug he'll use!

A Happy Book
It was boyfriend's and I five year anniversary, and unfortunately it didn't come at the best time. He had just lost his job and didn't have the money to do something spectacular for such a huge anniversary. I decided that I wanted to do something really special--and cost effective--to get his spirits up and still celebrate us, so I made him a "happy book." I went to a bookstore and got a really nice leather-bound, unlined journal and a felt tip pen. I then sat at my computer and researched hundreds of motivational, inspirational, and loving quotes that made me think of him. I picked my favorite 60 (1 for each month we had been together) and wrote them down on a separate page in the book. On the next page I inserted a picture and wrote a story about how or why that quote made me think of him. I want him to know that he's accomplished so much in his life, and he just needs to keep going. He said it was the best present he's ever gotten and he makes sure to read a quote every morning so that he can start his day knowing how much I love and support him. :)

A Heart For Music
This is an idea that I have for a cheap gift for Valentine's Day. I am learning to play the guitar and I have a really nice Fender acoustic with a pre-amp built into it. So I am slowly recording songs onto the computer that I played and recorded. For example Staind's “Black Rain” is a really, really easy song that sounds very beautiful. Other ideas include Cold's Bleed or any romantic song that you can think of. I just hope that my girlfriend will like my little idea.

A Keepsake of Our Song
My husband and I weren't planning on doing anything for Valentine’s Day. We had decided to just get each other gifts and be done with it. I have always had a hard time surprising him so I was hoping to by getting him something he had wanted for a long time. Unfortunately, he had found it hidden in the living room couch - which no one sits on! As Valentine’s Day got closer I still wanted to surprise him so I got six balloons and placed a note in each one. Each note told him where to go to pop the next balloon. By the time he got to the bedroom I was standing there with the song that we danced to at our wedding playing, and a bottle in my hand. In the bottle were the lyrics to our song printed on old-looking paper. He loved it!
